The landscape of education and digital literacy in Ekiti State received a monumental boost as the Ansar-Ud-Deen Islamic Secondary School in Otun-Ekiti commissioned a state-of-the-art 350-seater Computer-Based Test (CBT), Science, and Technology Centre.
The landmark event, which also featured the foundation-laying ceremony for a modern Science and Technology Laboratory Block, was graced by the National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Prince Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem, SAN.
At the heart of this transformative achievement is Hon. Ibrahim Kunle Olanrewaju, the National Organizing Secretary of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria. Through his visionary leadership, deep community ties, and strategic facilitation, Hon. Olanrewaju has successfully channeled critical investments into his alma mater, rewriting the educational narrative for the younger generation.
The newly commissioned two-storey CBT Centre is an architectural and technological marvel designed to serve both the school and the wider Ekiti community. Built to eliminate logistical hurdles for students sitting for external examinations, the facility boasts impressive specifications, including 350 test stations allowing candidates to sit for examinations simultaneously, an integrated wireless internet network and dedicated infrastructure engineered to deliver up to 99.9% connectivity uptime, high-definition CCTV cameras for comprehensive monitoring, and an eco-friendly renewable-energy system comprising 90 solar panels and six 12kVA lithium batteries backed by an 80kVA diesel generator for uninterrupted power.
The ICT/CBT project was originally conceived by the school alumni as a dual-purpose vehicle to provide hands-on digital training for students and generate sustainable revenue for the institution. Recognizing the immense capital outlay required, Hon. Olanrewaju and the alumni successfully brokered a strategic collaboration with a group of private investors. Under the arrangement, the investors built and equipped the facility and will recoup their investment over time before fully transferring ownership to the school.
Adding to the day's milestones, Prince Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem, SAN, laid the foundation for a comprehensive Science and Technology Laboratory Block. The project, donated by the family of the late Alhaji Mohammed Olanrewaju Uthman and the late Alhaja Fausat Aduke Olanrewaju, the parents of Hon. Ibrahim Kunle Olanrewaju, carries profound personal and historical significance. The initiative was inspired by a poignant family memory: Hon. Olanrewaju's mother had originally desired for him to study medicine, but his father insisted he attend this very school, which unfortunately lacked science laboratories at the time.
Scheduled for completion before the end of the year, the new laboratory block will feature modern learning spaces for Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture, and Vocational Studies, alongside dedicated administrative offices and supporting facilities. These practical training grounds are designed to ensure that no student faces the infrastructural roadblocks of the past, empowering them to pursue and achieve their highest academic aspirations.
Speaking at the event, stakeholders commended Hon. Ibrahim Kunle Olanrewaju for his relentless dedication to human capital development and community advancement. By bridging the gap between educational needs and strategic investment, Hon. Olanrewaju continues to demonstrate a profound commitment to equipping Ekiti youths with the digital and scientific tools required to excel in a competitive global economy. With these state-of-the-art facilities, Ansar-Ud-Deen Islamic Secondary School, Otun-Ekiti, stands poised as a regional beacon of academic excellence, technological innovation, and sustainable community development.
