"I Didn’t Authorize Any Message" — FCT Minister Wike Denies Backing PDP’s Oluyede in Ekiti

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has strongly denied authorizing any message of support for Dr. Wole Oluyede, the PDP governorship candidate in Ekiti State.

In a formal statement signed by his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, the Minister clarified that he has absolutely no knowledge of the message read at the rally and remains entirely focused on his official duties as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Minister Wike advised Dr. Oluyede to focus on his election campaign rather than dragging his name into Ekiti politics, particularly against Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, whose positive impact and good work in the state have been well noted.

The Minister's statement emphasized the importance of political structure and local leadership, questioning how a candidate expects outside support while remaining at odds with key party figures at home:
"I don't know how you will be fighting your leader from your state, former Governor Ayo Fayose, who is also my friend, but you want me, someone who is not from Ekiti, to support you. It has never worked that way, and it won't work like that. If you want me to join your campaign, it is your state leader, Ayodele Fayose, who would invite me, not you. That is exactly why I boycotted yesterday's grand finale campaign."
