World Teachers’ Day: Group commends Governor Oyebanji for prioritising Ekiti Teachers’ welfare

The foremost grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation movement has commended and appreciated the Governor for his significant achievements amd prioritising the welfare of Ekiti State teachers welfare in the education sector which include, sustenance of free and compulsory education in the state, appointment of retired teachers as political office holders, massive renovation of schools across the state, approval of career progression of graduate teachers, upward review of gratuities paid to retired teachers, employment of 1500 primary school teachers and 2500 secondary school teachers, among others.

The group, *OYEBANJI STREET VANGUARD* (_OSV_) made this commendation in a statement released in the State Capital - Ado Ekiti yesterday in response to the State Governor's celebration of the State engine room during the 2025 World Teachers' Day when the Governor further display his unwavering love for the sector and presentation of whopping sum of N46 Million nairs cheques to Outstanding Teachers.

It wil be recall that the welfare of Teachers in the state has always been the priority of the governor.

The efforts of the Mr. Governor amobg mant others un approving the immediate extension of the retirement age of teachers in the state from 60 years to 65 years and service year raised from 35 to 40 years is one of the many reasons teachers in the state can not stop appreciating the Mr. Governor. 

In commemoration of this year's World Teachers Day, the Governor also rewarded outstanding teachers in the state with cash gifts totalling N46 million, approved upward review of Science Teachers and Head of Department allowances, as well as immediate payment of 2019 leave bonus areas to further motivate the teachers. 

The group stressed that according to the words of Mr. Governor, *_"it will always get better. I am resolutely committed to my pact with you and all Ekiti workers"_*.

The group therefore, enjoined all Ekiti Teachers and enitee state workforce that it In support of political stability anchored on the platform of continuity of good governance so far displayed by the present administration of Governor Oyebanji that Ekiti State can continue to retain her rightful position among the committee of nation.

Governor Oyebanji has shown that as husband of a teacher, a product of a teacher and civil servant as a parent, the welfare of the masses especially, teachers and workers remain his major priority. 

Finally, the group thank all Ekiti workers especially our teachers for allowing us to dream and soar as high as a kite with Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
